Accommodation Symposium

We invite all administrators, special education staff, 504 coordinators, MTSS teams, and diagnosticians to join us for a detailed session on STAAR accommodations and accessibility features. In this session, we will review who qualifies for these accommodations, when they should be applied, and what they look like in practice. Gain a clear understanding of how to ensure equitable access for all students during STAAR testing and how to effectively implement these features to support student success.

Back That Thang’ Up: Using Evidence to Support Constructed Response Gr 3-12 (presented by Region 10)

Students’ ability to clearly answer constructed response items and select the best text evidence to support their responses will depend on the number and quality of opportunities they have to practice these vital skills. In this session, participants will gain an understanding of the STAAR assessment requirements for constructed response questions, learn strategies to create text-based questions based on the TEKS, and help facilitate students’ abilities to compose written responses that provide appropriate text evidence.

Let’s jump into the  KAMICO Quick Start Packs, their contents, and the method of implementation most beneficial for you and your students.  The packs contain math, reading, writing, and science materials created specifically for your grade level that are TEKS-based and STAAR formatted.  Learn to use assessments as an instructional tool, and as a tool to gather data needed to make data-driven instructional decisions.   Explore activities that will develop and reinforce individual TEKS for students in need of remediation.  You will also be introduced to extension activities to be used to extend the knowledge of students who have mastered various skills.  Join us and play TEKS-based board games that can be immediately incorporated into your lessons.  You will also be introduced to integrated literature guides based on popular children’s literature.  These guides will reinforce math, reading, writing, science, social studies, technology, and fine arts.  See you soon!
