This comprehensive session breaks down the structure, key components, and best practices in addition to instructional strategies needed to tackle the STAAR with confidence.
In this session, participants will explore expectations and scoring guidelines for both the RLA STAAR reading and the RLA writing short constructed responses. Participants will evaluate sample prompts, rubrics, and student samples as well as connect constructed response skills to other elements of the RLA STAAR and EOC exams. Additionally, participants will explore instructional strategies to support student growth.
With the launch of the STAAR redesign, approximately one-third of students in the state of Texas received zero points for their RLA extended constructed responses, exposing a need for a deeper understanding of the text-based writing requirements. Join us as we navigate the complexities of ECR scoring. Participants in this session will understand the STAAR hybrid scoring model, gain insights from the STAAR ECR rubric, engage with analysis and feedback of student samples, as well as explore instructional implications.
In this session, we will explore evidence-based strategies to assess and deepen student understanding.
