Back That Thang’ Up: Using Evidence to Support Constructed Response Gr 3-12 (presented by Region 10)
Tuesday July 22, 2025 8:30am - 11:30am CDT
Students’ ability to clearly answer constructed response items and select the best text evidence to support their responses will depend on the number and quality of opportunities they have to practice these vital skills. In this session, participants will gain an understanding of the STAAR assessment requirements for constructed response questions, learn strategies to create text-based questions based on the TEKS, and help facilitate students’ abilities to compose written responses that provide appropriate text evidence.

Annotations and Close Reading
Wednesday July 23, 2025 12:40pm - 3:30pm CDT
Learning to read academic texts critically, and create purposeful annotations throughout the reading, will propel students into a level of reading comprehension that will not only improve their assessment scores, but will also make them better readers and writers. These incredibly useful skills will serve your students well in all core classes. Teachers will see specific reading and note-taking strategies for each core content, along with techniques that can be overlapped in cross-curricular curriculum.
